My musical and life partner Andy wrote this. We’ve both always loved the classic country music storytelling tradition of love gone wrong; in this case, someone who’s strong enough and self-aware enough not to stand for it anymore is telling that story.

I love the attitude and the sass that comes across in the song, also the humour in it and irresistible country groove. This song is great fun to perform and a great persona to adopt when singing.

Andy says the song was initially inspired by some country-folk blues and soulful R&B type songs he was listening to at the time, like Ray Charles and Jelly Roll Morton, but then the pure country tune within asserted itself and demanded to be let out!
