    A lot of people have asked me about Spirals coming out on vinyl so I’m thrilled it’s finally here!

    The physical properties of a vinyl record as an object have always been very important to me. My dad’s collection really influenced me musically growing up and shaped the music I love and write.

    300 hand-numbered, limited edition records will be available on 3rd March, but if you PRE-ORDER a copy now I’ll send it out early so you’ll be the first to get it. I'll sign the record and send it out with a personal note.

    The vinyl record comes with a previously unreleased BONUS track that’s not on the CD. My cover of the iconic song Hurt by Trent Reznor, most famously re-interpreted by Johnny Cash at the end of his life, was recorded during the album studio sessions with producer John Reynolds (Sinead O’Connor, Indigo Girls).

This song adds a different colour to the album. It was written by a friend Tom Hackwood who used to be the drummer in a band with my partner and collaborator Andy Hobsbawm. We loved the tune and although he wrote it as an introspective, indie ballad, we thought it would work really well as an upbeat country-pop song.

I’ve always been a fan of the way that Abba combined deceptively jaunty, toe-tapping tunes with lyrics about heartbreak and loss and I like how our treatment of this song tries to do the same thing.

Like another song on the album Can’t Not, this is about the bittersweet nature of love – it’s always there and won’t leave you even when you might want it to.
